We believe every child should have the opportunity to learn an instrument to develop self-expression and we do our best to accommodate as many students as possible. Currently we have around 150 students per week involved in extra-curricular music lessons on a range of instruments and vocals. There is currently no charge for this service.
Studies have shown that learning to play an instrument can make a difference in a child’s academic performance. Fostering a dedication in developing instrumental/vocal skills requires self-discipline, time management and organisation – all important transferable skills. Instrumental/vocal tuition is vital for increasing confidence and promotes creativity, as well as developing identity and self-expression. Becoming fluent in an instrument/vocals will allow access for pupils to take part in extra-curricular music concerts and wider performance opportunities, as well as supporting their work in the classroom at KS3 and KS4.

We support pupils in the development of their instrumental/vocal skills and, when of certain standard, encourage them to partake in extra-curricular ensembles and universally recognised ABRSM and Trinity College London exams.
