During half term 1 we celebrated BHM at St Peter’s. Pupils were able to do a number of things within lessons under the 2024 theme ‘Reclaiming Narratives’.
Several pupils were taken on a trip to the National Slavery Museum – scan the QR code to see the highlights from our trip.
We had a competition for the theme ‘Reclaiming narratives’ where we had amazing entries of all kinds, including posters, poems and stories. It was very difficult to choose just three winners!
Half term 1 links to the Article 2 ‘No discrimination’ as pupils were able to think about BHM in lessons, form and assembly.
October was also the month of the Rosary therefore the second right for this month was Article 30 ‘Minority Language, Religion and Culture’.
This half term we had an assembly on poverty. We were called to think about how people in our local community may be affected by poverty and what poverty might look like in Manchester.
We were able to think about Jesus’ teachings of love thy neighbour and reflect on Catholic Social Teaching – principles based on the fact we are made in God’s image.
For this week we were able to reflect on the rights that are linked to poverty and how a child in poverty may lack these rights.
During next half term is the UN's World Children's day we for this we are asked to think about the convention on the rights of a child.
