Lest we Forget

The following poem was written by a Year 8 student in remembrance of the fallen.

Heal the Wound

by Izodosa Osarenmwinda

A chain of death few withstand,

Between barbed-wire in no-man’s land.

A hint of hope provokes elation;

But there’s no time for celebration.

Heal the wound hatred has formed,

Solve the problem till transformed,

Be the light in spite of darkness,

Elevate optimism; emit brightness.

A hundred years on, lost souls declare

Remember commitments, remember to care,

Life carries on as decades pass,

Poppies bloom in Flanders amongst wild grass.
