Junior Chess Championship
There was great excitement in the library just before the end of the last academic year and it was all caused by the Junior Chess Championship.
This championship is held each year and just like the senior championship, the winners’ names are etched onto an honours board, which ensures their achievements will be acknowledged long into the future.
The junior championships are separated by gender and each year we have a girl champion and a boy champion and for 2018, they were Anisha Sumehra and Adrian Chan. The runners-up were mostly Year 8 students but amazingly, a very
talented Year 7 boy, Daniel Ajidagba made it to the final and now holds the title of the boys’ first runner up.
The girls’ first runner up, Stefani Felix is relatively new to chess having only learnt the game a few months prior to the start of the tournament! This was an incredible achievement by Stefani, who faced her opponents coolly and calmly.
