GCSE Examination Results – Summer 2017

I would like to congratulate year 11 on achieving some impressive examination results, at a time when examinations are becoming more demanding. Your hard work and dedication towards your studies has been commendable, and I am proud of your achievement.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank staff, parents and family members who have worked really hard to ensure that every pupil achieved their full potential.

St Peter's is only the start of your journey - we all wish you the very best for the future.

GCSE Results Highlights

This year has seen the introduction of the new GCSE grading system for English, English Literature and Maths. The new grades awarded are 1-9, with a grade 4 or higher being considered to be a 'standard pass' or equivalent to a C. The achievement of a Grade 9 is intended to be particularly rare far more so than A* grades on the previous GCSEs and we are delighted to report that our pupils achieved 7 of these grades - 7 grade 9’s were awarded – 5 in English and 2 in Maths. There were also 64 grades 7-9 awarded in English and Maths. 69% of our pupils achieved a grade 9-4 in English and 51% achieved a grade 9-4 in Maths.

There were also some excellent achievements in Science. Once again, attainment in Core Science and Additional Science exceeded the national average.  Almost a third of the Y11 cohort achieved A*-B grades in Core Science.  In Further Additional Science, 82% of pupils achieved A*-C, and 21% achieved A*-A grades.

Geography and History results at St Peter’s continue to improve, with 65% of pupils achieving grades A*-C in History, and 28% achieving grades A*-A.  In Geography, 51% achieved A*-C, and 26% achieved A*-B.  52% of pupils achieved grades A*-C in Modern Foreign Languages.

In RE, 61% of pupils achieved grades A*-C and almost 40% achieved grade B or above.

Across the curriculum there were also some impressive results. In Art and Textiles 100% of pupils achieved a grade A-C and in Photography 88% of pupils achieved A*-C grades.  In Computing, 75% of pupils achieved grades A*-C, and in Business Studies, 63% achieved grades A*-C.  In ICT, an impressive 92% of the Y11 cohort achieved a GCSE (or equivalent) grade A*-C.

BTEC Subjects continue to show good results, with 100% of entrants gaining a qualification, and 80% achieving a Level 2 Pass or better (equivalent to a GCSE grade C or above).

Once again, congratulations to all pupils on their achievements and in particular to the outstanding achievements of the following pupils:
