Manchester Velodrome visit

We were invited to bring a group of year 7 and year 8 pupils to the Manchester Velodrome, to take part in the Manchester Schools Track Championships 2013. 14 pupils have started to attend their six week programme that culminates in an individual 1 lap sprint competition for boys and girls. The top finishers in each league will be invited to a final meeting before the summer school holidays.

It’s “All Write” at St Peter’s

poetry competition

English teacher, Ms Boardman, recently encouraged some pupils to enter a poetry competition held by Manchester Metropolitan University. Out of the 500 entries across the whole of the North West there were only 80 winners selected to have their work published in this year's anthology, 'All Write'.

The audit of literacy, numeracy and use of information, communication and technology brings together all the excellent work across the school. The visiting assessor said “The school has placed literacy, and in particular reading, at the heart of its strategy for improving attainment.”

Brothers and Sisters - The Musical

This December, St Peter’s Performing Arts Department present to you our new musical: “Brothers and Sisters”. With music from Annie, Blood Brothers and Oliver, the storylines of these three musicals are intertwined to create a new story of the trials and tribulations of children growing up within two very different orphanages. Come and watch the mischief of the 7 year old children who drive Miss Hannigan to drink. What will happen when they grow up and enter the real world?

Visiting Chinese Teachers from Beijing School 66 China

As part of the development of our link with our Chinese school, School 66, a group of 6 teachers came to Manchester spending some time in St Peter's and visiting The Lake District and London. They were led by School 66's Head of English, Wenli Cong. On Monday they attended our year 7 assembly, had a tour of the school and visited a variety of lessons.

Friday 28 Sept, saw St Peter's staff, students and members of the community pull together to raise funds for Macmillan and cancer research. Students in food technology had been baking all week and Mrs White and Father Thomas sent lots of invitations to our local parishes.
